Track Record
Our team brings together decades of experience across institutional investment management, private banking, quantitative finance, and entrepreneurial advisory.
Leadership
Little Whale Capital was founded by individuals who have spent their careers at the intersection of finance, technology, and advisory. Our principals are not generalists who have moved into wealth management. They are specialists who have built track records in demanding institutional and entrepreneurial environments, and who have chosen to apply that experience in the service of a small number of families.
Nick Maughan CBE is a career investor and technology entrepreneur with a record spanning several decades. He served as Director of Research at Tamiso & Co, a pioneering quantitative trading firm based in New York, where he led systematic research and strategy development at an institutional level. He has founded and invested in multiple technology businesses, and serves as chairman of several organisations across the private and public sectors. His combination of quantitative rigour, entrepreneurial experience, and strategic breadth informs the firm's investment philosophy at its most fundamental level.
Charles Abou Eid brings deep expertise in wealth management and portfolio construction for international ultra-high-net-worth families. He held senior roles within the BNP Paribas Chief Investment Office, where he was responsible for global wealth management strategies, and at Deutsche Bank in Geneva, where he advised international families on complex, multi-jurisdiction portfolios. His experience in private banking, combined with his command of portfolio construction methodology and multi-asset risk management, underpins the firm's investment process and client service model.
Both principals hold advanced degrees from leading academic institutions and maintain close professional networks in the international investment community.
Institutional Roots
Our principals have operated within institutional investment environments where the demands of rigour, accountability, and process are non-negotiable. The research standards, risk frameworks, and governance disciplines developed in those contexts are applied in full to the management of our clients' wealth.
Years of advising international families at leading private banking institutions have given our principals a detailed understanding of the specific requirements, sensitivities, and complexities that characterise ultra-high-net-worth client relationships. We understand what sophisticated families need, and what they expect, from an investment advisor.
Direct experience founding and backing high-growth companies provides an insider's perspective on private markets that is rarely available in conventional asset management. We understand how businesses are built, how value is created, and how risks evolve through the private market lifecycle, allowing us to evaluate private opportunities with unusual depth.
Our Network
Over the course of our principals' careers, we have built relationships with leading asset managers, independent research providers, custodian banks, legal advisors, tax specialists, and family offices across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. These relationships are among our most valuable assets.
Our network supports every dimension of our service. In the investment domain, it provides access to deal flow, co-investment opportunities, and manager selection insights that are not available through conventional channels. In the advisory domain, it allows us to introduce clients to the most appropriate legal, tax, and governance specialists for their specific needs.
We are selective in the relationships we maintain and deepen. We work with counterparties who meet our standards of quality, integrity, and alignment, and we are prepared to forgo convenience in order to maintain those standards. The quality of our network reflects the same principles that govern our investment approach.
We welcome introductions from families who are considering a relationship with a genuinely independent, principal-led advisory firm.
